History
1970
Jim and Lori Estes established Estes
Construction. The company began by constructing high-end custom homes and small commercial buildings. Almost all projects were design-build, teaming up with architects to work with clients long before design-build was popular in mainstream construction.
1980's
Estes began its growth strategy and built a reputation on high standards, satisfied customers, continuous improvement and training. The company grew despite a severe recession, which yielded double-digit unemployment. Traveling out of town to serve customers was common, working as far away as Miami, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Memphis. Estes Construction achieved growth by providing professional services through scheduling and quality control processes. Many of these processes were developed through our extensive work at the Rock Island Arsenal with the Army Corps of Engineers.
1990's
Estes continued its growth through market leadership and further developing the strategies of the 70's and 80's. Project size and complexity expanded as Estes developed a strength for early project involvement, working with owners whose needs required a tight budget and a challenging schedule. 1993 Estes led the country with the first "Excellence in Partnering Award" presented by the Associated General Contractors of America, for work on a project with Deere & Company.
2000's
Estes focused on becoming a client advocate, from concept to completion, to assist owners in the increasing complex process of a project. As delivery methods changed and many owners wanted early involvement by the builder, Estes advanced its processes. Estes became a leader in "Integrated Project Delivery."
Future:
The
Estes Forward Initiative defines the direction Estes strives for in the future. This includes a further improvement our processes and excellence in Integrated Project Delivery. Further, Estes will become "greener" and leverage labor relationships.
